Socio-Demographic Characteristics, Body Weight Status and Energy Intake among Users and Non-Users of Dietary Supplements among Government Employees in Putrajaya, Malaysia

The use of dietary supplements is prevalent among many groups worldwide. However, few studies have examined their government employees. aim this cross-sectional study was to determine the association sociodemographic characteristics, body weight status, and energy intake with supplement employees in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Simple random sampling used select a sample 460 from six ministries data were collected through anthropometric measurements (height, weight, % fat, waist hip circumferences), self-administered questionnaire (sociodemographic characteristics use), an interviewer-administered (24-hour recall; fruit vegetable intake). results indicated that prevalence 55.4%, vitamin C (38.4%) being most popular type supplement. Health issues (80.8%) common reason for usage, internet (59.2%) main source information, pharmacies (71.8%) places purchase supplements. A multivariate analysis showed participants who female, married, had better monthly income, lived within smaller household size, normal mass index, classified as having unhealthily high fat percentage, did not skip breakfast, consumed at least five servings fruits vegetables per day significantly more likely In conclusion, health-conscious prone consume supplements, due use, dissemination accurate scientific information regarding highly recommended
